Christmas Light Installation in Logan Square, Chicago

Custom Christmas lighting and permanent roofline lighting for Logan Square, designed for greystone cornices and bay windows along the historic boulevards.

The Unique Charm of Logan Square

Logan Square runs from Diversey Parkway south to the Bloomingdale Trail, and from the Metra Milwaukee District North line east to the North Branch of the Chicago River. It was annexed to Chicago in 1889 and named for General John A. Logan, and it was built out by Norwegian, Danish, Polish and Jewish immigrants through the end of the 19th century. What defines it visually is the boulevard system: wide landscaped parkways lined with stately greystones and large bungalows, with the 70 foot marble Illinois Centennial Monument at the centre, designed by Henry Bacon and sculpted by Evelyn Beatrice Longman for the state's 1918 centennial. Palmer Square Park covers 7.68 acres. Three CTA Blue Line stops, Logan Square, California and Western, run around the clock. We love contributing to the local character of Logan Square with our beautiful lighting designs, whether seasonal or permanent.

Our Services in Logan Square

From magical Christmas displays to permanent architectural lighting, we have professional solutions for every property and every season.

Residential Holiday Lighting

A greystone is a specific lighting problem. The facade is cut limestone, so nothing gets fastened to it, and the features worth lighting are the cornice line, the bay window projections and the entry. We work the roof edge and the cornice, follow the bays rather than cutting straight across them, and size clips to the gutter profile. Every residential package is all inclusive: custom design, install, mid season maintenance, takedown and storage.

Commercial Holiday Lighting

The commercial frontage along Milwaukee Avenue and around the Logan Square station serves people arriving on foot and by train at all hours, since the Blue Line runs 24 hours a day. Lighting a top edge and an entry gives a storefront definition on a street where buildings are tall and close together.

Permanent Lighting Installation

Transform your outdoor spaces with professional permanent lighting installations. Enhance ambiance, security, and property value year-round with invisible tracks and smart app control.

Patio & Bistro Lighting

Bistro strings over patios, pergolas and decks, hung on proper catenary with dimmable warm white bulbs. The one install that earns its keep from spring through fall rather than only in December.

Boulevard setbacks change the design

The boulevards are the reason a plan here is not the same as one three blocks off them. A greystone on Logan or Kedzie Boulevard sits behind a deeper setback and a wide landscaped median, so the viewing distance from the far side is substantial and the tree canopy interrupts the sight line. That pushes the design toward the roof edge and the cornice, where the line stays continuous and reads through the trees, rather than toward small scale detail at the entry that disappears past the parkway. On the side streets, where the setback shrinks, the balance goes the other way.

What a Logan Square install costs

Seasonal lighting for an average house starts at $799 and up, depending on the complexity, height and access of the job. A single greystone front with one street facing elevation is often near that starting number. It rises with height, since a three story cornice line sits above comfortable ladder reach and needs different equipment, and with corner lots on the boulevards where two full elevations face the public. Multi unit buildings are quoted per elevation rather than per unit. We quote the whole job after we walk the roofline, never off a rate card or a square footage table.
