Architect designed homes get cut to fit lighting
A stock lighting package assumes a simple gable and a gutter. Many Winnetka homes have neither. Prairie School houses run long low eaves with deep overhangs where a bulb line has to sit under the fascia to be seen from the street. Tudors have half timbered gable faces that look wrong outlined and right when the eave alone is lit. On homes of genuine architectural significance we hang from shingle edges and gutter lips with removable clips only, never into original wood, stucco or masonry, and we photograph every attachment point so next season's install is identical.

Winnetka rarely sits at the floor, because the houses that make the village interesting are also the ones with six roof planes, multiple dormers, a porte cochere and a coach house. Steep older pitches and slate or tile roofs also change access and therefore labor. We price from a measured walk around, and we will tell you honestly when a smaller, better executed scheme will look better than a full outline.
