Christmas Light Installation in Northfield, IL
Custom Christmas lighting and permanent roofline lighting for Northfield, covering the Sunset Ridge and Winnetka Avenue blocks and the commercial corridor at Willow Road and Waukegan Avenue.
The Unique Charm of Northfield
Northfield holds about 5,751 people across 3.23 square miles, all of it land, roughly 19 miles north of downtown Chicago. It is the North Shore village without a Metra station, which makes it a driving town in a way its neighbours are not: the traffic that sees your house is on Willow Road, Waukegan Avenue, Winnetka Avenue and Sunset Ridge Road rather than walking home from a platform. It also carries a working commercial base unusual for its size. Medline Industries employs around 1,300 people here and the College of American Pathologists another 460, and Kraft Foods ran its headquarters from Northfield for years. New Trier's freshman campus is here, along with Middlefork and Sunset Ridge schools. We love contributing to the local character of Northfield with our beautiful lighting designs, whether seasonal or permanent.
Our Services in Northfield
From magical Christmas displays to permanent architectural lighting, we have professional solutions for every property and every season.
Residential Holiday Lighting
Most of Northfield reads from a moving car rather than a sidewalk, so we design the front elevation as one composition and resist scattering small accents that only work up close. Rooflines get cut to fit runs, and clips are sized to the existing trim rather than fasteners driven into wood. Every residential package is all inclusive: custom design, install, mid season maintenance, takedown and storage.
Commercial Holiday Lighting
The Willow Road and Waukegan Avenue intersection is the commercial centre of the village, and it is a driving intersection rather than a strolling one. Outlining a building's top edge and its entry is what registers at that speed, and it is what we design for along the corridor.
A corporate campus is not a storefront
Northfield's larger employers occupy buildings shaped nothing like retail. A long low elevation with a flat roof, a deep entry canopy and a parking field in front cannot be lit like a shop window, because there is no window to light and the viewing distance is a hundred yards or more. We run the roof edge as one continuous line to give the building a defined top, pick up the entry canopy separately so arrival reads, and leave the parking field alone. It is the same logic we apply on the Oak Brook corporate corridor.
What a Northfield install costs
Seasonal lighting for an average house starts at $799 and up, depending on the complexity, height and access of the job. Northfield lands close to that starting number more often than the lakefront villages do, because the postwar housing stock along Sunset Ridge Road and Winnetka Avenue tends toward simpler rooflines than the Queen Anne and Prairie School inventory further east. Where the number rises it is usually a deep lot, a detached garage needing its own circuit, or a house set well back from Willow Road. We quote the whole job after we walk the roofline, never off a rate card or a square footage table.
