Christmas Light Installation in Kenilworth, IL

Custom Christmas lighting and permanent roofline lighting for Kenilworth, a village platted in 1889 with no alleys, which means every ladder, cord and crew works from the street.

The Unique Charm of Kenilworth

Kenilworth is the smallest village we light, 0.61 square miles and about 2,514 residents, and the most deliberately designed. Joseph Sears bought 223.6 acres in 1889 for $150,300 and laid the village out on a set of rules that still govern how it looks: large lots, high standards of construction, tree lined roadways, generous park land, and no alleys. It incorporated in February 1896 once it reached 300 residents. Franklin Burnham designed both the railroad station and Kenilworth Union Church. Frank Lloyd Wright built the Hiram Baldwin House here in 1905, and George Washington Maher's work belongs to the same Prairie School inheritance. The Metra Union Pacific North station sits in the middle of it. We love contributing to the local character of Kenilworth with our beautiful lighting designs, whether seasonal or permanent.

Our Services in Kenilworth

From magical Christmas displays to permanent architectural lighting, we have professional solutions for every property and every season.

Residential Holiday Lighting

A Maher or Prairie School house wants a horizontal reading, and the Tudor or Colonial next door wants its gable outlined, so we design per house rather than per street. Every run is cut to the individual roof facet, and clips are sized to the existing trim so nothing is screwed, nailed or stapled into original woodwork. Every residential package is all inclusive: custom design, install, mid season maintenance, takedown and storage.

Commercial Holiday Lighting

Kenilworth has very little commercial frontage by design, and what exists clusters near the station. For North Shore businesses we more often light the commercial blocks in neighbouring Wilmette and Winnetka, and we hold the same fastening standards there.

Permanent Lighting Installation

Transform your outdoor spaces with professional permanent lighting installations. Enhance ambiance, security, and property value year-round with invisible tracks and smart app control.

Patio & Bistro Lighting

Bistro strings over patios, pergolas and decks, hung on proper catenary with dimmable warm white bulbs. The one install that earns its keep from spring through fall rather than only in December.

No alleys, and what that changes on install day

Sears platted Kenilworth without service alleys, and 130 years later that decision is still the operational fact of working here. There is no back lane to stage from. Ladders, extension runs, the truck and the crew all work from the street and the front and side of the property, on roadways that are narrow and tree lined by design. We schedule Kenilworth in daylight, keep the truck footprint small, and plan cord routes to a front or side exterior circuit rather than assuming a rear service point that does not exist. It is why we quote access here as carefully as we quote footage.

What a Kenilworth install costs

Seasonal lighting for an average house starts at $799 and up, depending on the complexity, height and access of the job. Kenilworth sits above that starting number consistently, for structural reasons rather than a premium on the address. The village was platted for large lots and high standards of construction, so the houses are bigger and the rooflines carry more detail. Add street only access and a mature canopy over narrow roadways, and footage and labour rise together. We quote the whole job after we walk the roofline, never off a rate card or a square footage table.
