Christmas Light Installation in Tower Lakes, IL
Custom Christmas lighting and permanent roofline lighting for Tower Lakes, a village of 440 homes built around two private lakes, where most houses are seen from the water.
The Unique Charm of Tower Lakes
Tower Lakes began as a summer resort, not a suburb. Myron Detrick and William Brooks platted it in 1924 on 70 acres of the Brooks and Paddock farm, dammed Mud Creek to make the lake, and built a 68 foot steel observation tower on the west shore, which is where the name comes from. The lake had been created the year before by damming a tributary of the Fox River, and it was enlarged in 1927 and again in the 1940s to reach its present size. The cottages became houses and the village incorporated on 12 September 1966. Today it holds about 1,226 people in 440 housing units across 1.04 square miles, of which roughly an eighth is water: two private lakes covering more than 85 acres, in the southwest corner of Lake County. We love contributing to the local character of Tower Lakes with our beautiful lighting designs, whether seasonal or permanent.
Our Services in Tower Lakes
From magical Christmas displays to permanent architectural lighting, we have professional solutions for every property and every season.
Residential Holiday Lighting
In a village that is one eighth water, the front of your house is often not the side people see. Lake facing elevations are viewed across open water from other people's docks and windows, at distances where C9 bulbs hold a line and mini lights disappear. We design the lake elevation as its own composition rather than an afterthought. Every residential package is all inclusive: custom design, install, mid season maintenance, takedown and storage.
Commercial Holiday Lighting
Tower Lakes is almost entirely residential by design, with the commercial life of the area sitting in Barrington next door. We light businesses throughout the Barrington area and hold the same standards there that we hold on the lakes.
Everything doubles on the water
A lake reflects the whole elevation back, so a house on the shore is lit twice and judged twice. A bulb out, a gap in a run, a line that dips between clips: each appears once on the house and once on the water, and on a still December night the reflection is the larger of the two images. On lake facing properties we tighten clip intervals, keep the run heights consistent so the reflection reads as a straight line, and check the finished install from across the water rather than only from the driveway. It is the only way to see what the neighbours will see.
What a Tower Lakes install costs
Seasonal lighting for an average house starts at $799 and up, depending on the complexity, height and access of the job. Tower Lakes often runs above it for a reason particular to the village: many houses need two designed elevations rather than one, the road side and the lake side, and the lake side is the one people look at longest. Lots vary widely because the original 1920s cottage plats were never uniform. We quote the whole job after we walk the roofline, never off a rate card or a square footage table.

This is my 2 nd winter using Hanging Lights. I am very happy with the results. They are so nice and accommodating to how you want your lights done or changes made from the previous year. I will be using them for years to come.
